IceCube After School 2025

Working with high schoolers to detect muons.

The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is a particle detector located at the South Pole. Leveraging about a cubic kilometer of ice, the detector is designed to detect and better understand neutrinos.

We introduced local high school students to data taking, statistics, and computer programming. They worked with Cosmic Watches to detect muons, learned about various shielding materials, and determined how best to conduct scientific experiments.
