5th annual Wisconsin Science Festival

Using the power of rock and ROLL to get the public excited about science!

The Wisconsin Science Festival is an annual statewide celebration of curiosity, creativity, and scientific discovery that brings together people of all ages to explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Spanning multiple days and hundreds of events across Wisconsin, the festival features hands-on activities, lectures, lab tours, performances, and demonstrations that connect communities with researchers, educators, and innovators. Each year carries a unifying theme with 2025’s being “Rock & Roll"!

Science on the Square is the signature kickoff event of the Wisconsin Science Festival, transforming downtown Madison’s State Street and Capitol Square into a lively, hands-on science street fair. Held in partnership with the Madison Night Market, it blends the excitement of a community festival with the wonder of scientific exploration.

At the heart of Science on the Square is one of its most crowd-pleasing attractions: The Wonders of Physics show! This year, I had the pleasure of working with local celebrity Haddie McLean to put on a show where we used science to defy logic, created music by heating metal pipes, and ended the show with a liquid nitrogen bang!
